You seen video evidence of a gun discharging 'spontaneously', yet your cognitive dissonance won't allow you to admit you were mistaken.

Let's face it, from what I've seen of him, that's basically his approach to learning new information that contradicts his preferred narrative.

If you point out there's no evidence BLM protests last year actually led to a spike in COVID cases, he insists that that's only because nobody was looking for any, and when you point out that epidemiologists were actually expecting at least some spike but wound up finding none (because the protesters actually had some grasp of how bad the virus is and how to mitigate its effects), he just dismisses it.

If you point out that one car manufacturer deciding they're going to phase out gas-powered cars over the next 15 years doesn't mean the price of gas is going to go down to $1/gallon soon, he angrily changes the subject.

If you point out that his claim that America leaving Afghanistan is going to lead to China swooping in and making a killing mining lithium makes no sense, he insists it's still profitable enough that they'd try.

And when I actually point him in the direction of a ballistics textbook (which is, as far as I can tell, the standard textbook on the subject) and the section that points out that, yes, such accidental shootings are, in fact, possible, he pretty much insists he knows better.

The only time I remember him actually accepting a correction I made from him is when I pointed out that it is, in fact, illegal under both Illinois and Wisconsin law for 17-year-olds to possess firearms.

Are you familiar with Innuendo Studios' Alt-Right Playbook series? While I don't think his views count as alt-right (and I know he throws a hissy fit every time anyone tries to put a label on his beliefs), his rhetorical strategies are such that you could probably remake most of the official (non-endnote) videos with examples specifically from him.

I fucking reject your " accidental discharge" label because it negates the simple FACT that "He who wields the gun wields responsibilty for it's use".
