The thing you can't seem to get through to that walnut you call a brain, is that science can demonstrate it's accuracy and reliability to describe reality.

Because the existence of any god has not been demonstrated.
As soon as someone is able to meet their burden of proof to demonstrate that at least one god exists, I will no longer be an atheist.
For most atheists, their atheism is not a dogmatic position, it is a provisional position.
You'd believe if you just opened your heart" is a terrible argument for religion. It's basically saying, "If you bias yourself enough, you can convince yourself that this is true." If religion were true, people wouldn't need faith to believe it -- it would be supported by good evidence.
