I don’t know if God exists, but it would be better for His reputation if He didn't.
I want to soar higher than any man has ever soared! I want to look down on the clouds with contempt! I want to sneer at God's creation, and spit on his ... (Homer Simpson)

'You can have all the faith you want in spirits, and the afterlife, and heaven and hell, but when it comes to this world, don't be an idiot. Cause you can tell me you put your faith in God to put you through the day, but when it comes time to cross the road, I know you look both ways.' - Dr House
“Young earth creationism is essentially the position that all of modern science, 90% of living scientists and 98% of living biologists, all major university biology departments, every major science journal, the American Academy of Sciences, and every major science organization in the world, are all wrong regarding the origins and development of life….but one particular tribe of uneducated, bronze aged, goat herders got it exactly right.” - Chuck Easttom

I was brought up, Christian. It wasn't abusive, I believe that my parents thought they were helping me, not forcing anything negative upon me. That said, the main staple of all indoctrination tactics is fear. Whether it is taught in malice or not, indoctrination breeds fear. I was honestly afraid to leave religion. Once I realized that my fears were not based on logic, I could start letting go. But, don't always leap to thinking a kid is abused because he was brought up going to church, Sunday school, reading holy books, etc.
