The solution isn't to strike; you are striking against a government which has a massive amount of debt, and is thus unable to do anything about your demands. The solution is to get rid of the public sector (as much as possible), and move all the jobs to the private sector, where companies actually know how to run themselves.

My father spent his whole working life in the private sector and went on strike on many occasions.
It is the only recourse when your employer is acting unreasonably and this government is acting like tyranical bullies, trying to force a triple whammy on its staff, making us contribute more, for longer, for less and only paying lip service to negotiation at the very last minute.
The private sector is very much NOT the solution to any of the problems this country faces with its infrastructure.
With private companies not only do you have to pay for the work, materials and sundries, you also have to pay off shareholders this means that you have to skimp somewhere, or as we've discovered with the private companies who work for the mod, everything that used to just be done by the in house team is suddenly an 'extra' that you have to pay through the nose for. This crops up so often that it is beyond a joke, these extras cost many thousands of pounds even in small establishments.
You can fix ignorance, you can't fix stupid.
