This ruling is not just going to affect the U.S. . Conservatives in Canada are going to see an opening to set up new abortion laws, and it is going to hurt them in the polls.
Unfortunately, most Canadians think the Supreme Court has upheld a woman's right to unrestricted abortion. That is not true. The ruling opened the door to a Roe vs. Wade type law, as long as abortion access, when legal, was available.
Right now there is no law in Canada. That means that it is up to a woman's beliefs and her doctor's medical ethics. This is the correct result, but it is not in law - it is the de-facto result of the lack of a law. Abortions in Canada could be partly restricted by government.
