The states which are passing abortion restrictions tend to fall into two categories, southern states that are conservative strongholds, and states that are also conservative because they are mostly rural. The overturning of Roe v. Wade is going to open up two salient issues. The first is the imbalance in the original constitution in which states without a lot of people receive disproportionate representation in the Senate and the Electoral College. The second is that these conservative states in the south are also the states in which children and mothers are most poorly served, with the highest rates of poverty, teen pregnancy, and the worst schools and welfare systems.
