Life for Christians is about selfless giving, because of the example of Christ sacrificing himself. It's not for profit (getting into Heaven) or for fear of reprisal (hell fire and damnation). If it is for either then it's not selfless, and then would be an attempt at profiting. I could even concede that it's a majority that do act that way, it's not the way I was raised though.
