If one believes that a god is the cause of what happens in the universe, then it is a very good reason to stop believing.
If belief is based on feelings, or faith or personal religious experience, then no reasoning is necessary. What isn't gained by reason can't be lost by reason.
Most believers set up their god to never be testable. They either expect nothing concrete from their god, or they accept poor anecdotes as evidence of God's occasional miracles. The problem is that the bible claims that god not only did things in the past, but will actively do things when believers ask. Such a god is easily disproved.
