James Lovelock died earlier today. He had a good innings and by all accounts was in good health until six months before he died and compos mentis all the way.
In case anybody doesn't know he's the granddaddy of the modern environmental movement, a scientist who spent years researching humanity's impact on the world and working to get people to understand the harm that we do and to get us to start doing stuff to stop and reverse this harm. He is most famous for the Gaia Hypothesis.
He will be missed by all who want the world to be a better place.
