Got one telling us it's a lightbulb, the other convinced it's a doughball.  Seems like islam might have some sort of effect on the human brain.

If Mohammad (peas be upon him!) had told us that Allah made the moon a mirror, Winter might have a case. He didn’t, so he doesn’t.

This feels like the plasma thing all over again.

I think you are just misunderstanding the reference to the sun as a "lantern" and the moon as a mere "light".

Here's another verse that makes the meaning stand out:
