Do you believe bacon increases the risk of heart disease? If so, why? I think you do because it has a lot of saturated fat in it,and the fact that it has a lot of saturated fat is mechanistic evidence.
Just because a specific, isolated compound found in a food can cause an effect in the body, that doesn’t necessarily mean the food itself will have the same effect. This is called synergistic effect of food.
