I haven't flown in a long time, but several years ago I went to California for a seminar. Normally I reserve a window seat. Since I didn't make my reservations, my employer did, I ended up in a middle seat on the way back to South Carolina.
I was between two women and had headphones on to listen to my CD player and had a book to pass the time. They started talking across me which I normally would have just dealt with, but they started discussing 'The Left Behind' series of books. After about half an hour of inwardly rolling my eyes, I offered to switch seats with either one of them. They were just so in love with that series of books, which was pretty new at the time. In and among this fasifuckingnating discussion, I learned about how god saved the one lady's son from his autism.
Window seat now mine, volume turned up on what was probably some very unChristian music. It's not like you can go far to escape in a plane.
