I say just finish trashing the earth and THEN build the space ships and have all the undesirables stay here while the rest of us head for an unspoiled paradise.
By the time their descendants return to Earth via anti-matter powered and Alcubierre driven spacecraft, they can then film the result and send that documentary back in time. The movie is Idiocracy.
If today you can take a thing like evolution and make it a crime to teach in the public schools, tomorrow you can make it a crime to teach it in the private schools and next year you can make it a crime to teach it to the hustings or in the church.
