Sure there's an explanation,  Chucky D was from an incredibly racist and very christian society.

Quote:Again, if Lincoln and Wilberforce had thought like this, Slavery would never have ended. That's a brute historical fact and shows the Greatness of Christianity. It shows that, when the Spirit of God wakes men (and women) up to the Truth that "love your neighbor as yourself" and "do unto others as you would have them unto you", not to mention Christ's limitless exhortations to charity (e.g. in Mat 25: "Whatsoever you did to the least of these, that you did unto Me. Therefore, come ye blessed, and enter the Kingdom of My Father"), how much Good was done for the World.
Lincoln did think like Darwin?  Both men were casual white supremacists, though I doubt I'd call either virulent ones.

Buddhism and confucianism got the golden rule a few centuries before this christ fella. Actually, there's a really good case for it being a syncretic add on - you can map it showing up in time and on route in the major trade passages of the day from china to the near east - but if we're claiming that christianity made society some way and thus christianity is responsible for it's expression even if the specific ideas aren't exclusively christian (or even originally christian) - then slavery itself would appear to be the responsibility of christianity in those societies as well. It wouldn't be hard..and it wasn't hard..for slavers to find justification for the practice in magic book. I suppose that it's decent to put out fires you start..eventually - but I'm not sure I'd call that contribution. More like being pulled kicking and screaming. They did decide to fight a war over it, after all.

What do you think, being a history buff, the things that christianity is responsible for in christian societies..like slavery....tells us about christianity?
