That's certainly an observation one could make based on many that show up here. However, we do have a few regulars here that I consider intelligent - whether I agree with them or not. Even some of the ones that I can't stand (not mentioning any names today LOL).
I know a few in real life that are extremely intelligent even though I find their conclusions to be a bit goofy, to say the least. I suspect that they feel the same way about me.
I think it comes down to differences in evidentiary standards and approaching knowledge with a deductive rather than inductive/empirical approach. I don't think I adequately explained that last bit - what I'm referring to is coming to a conclusion solely via deduction (e.g the Kalam cosmological argument) versus the scientific approach (or putting weight in the arguments/conclusions of one over the other). There are of course those on both sides who just believe what they want to believe without putting much real thought into it.
I think it's possible that we're just "wired" differently.
Unfortunately, the loudest ones seem to also be the dumbest ones and make the rest look bad.
