Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy is proposing that the U.S. raise the voting age to 25, with exceptions for those 18 and older who serve in the military, work as emergency responders or take a naturalization test.
Easy peasey, just amend the Constitution.
(But it shows you they see the existential problem they're facing)
The thing that strikes me as unusual is that one of his specified 18-25 exemptions is those who have taken a naturalization test. Does this mean that immigrants would technically have more rights than native-born citizens?
And thinking about it more, specifically the fact that 18-25-year-old native-borns would have to put their lives on the line in order to vote reminds me very much of a movie I love:
I can remember years ago that an off-hand remark I made about watching Starship Troopers launched into a discussion between Gawj and Boru about why the book was so much better than the film. Shit like this is literally why I strongly disagree.
