Who or what is "Nature's god"

As a young kid, I spent almost no time thinking about what the words meant in the Pledge.  I had to learn it, memorize it, and say it.  Done and done and done.  At no point was I told I had to understand it, adhere to it, or give a fuck about it.  Just stand up at the start of the school day and say it.

Same here. After we returned from Iran, I stopped saying it. No big deal.
