Of course the woman's own life is important. If someone had told me at age 14 that I could either be an artist or a mother but not both, I would never have gotten into an intimate relationship with a man and I'd be childless.
Fortunately I was able to raise my daughter - who is also an artist and who has chosen to be child-free - and then I focused my attention on music, writing and other things that interest me.
Well, I must say, being a mother is a lot more important than being an artist. Making art is a hobby, while being a mother is a duty.
