I can't stand a short stay in a hospital. The idea of being in a nursing home for any length of time makes me twitchy. If able, I would have to find a way out before that happens.
The morning after I had my heart attack, the doctor came into my room in the ICU and I asked when I could go home. It had only been a few hours and I was over it. I allowed him to keep me there overnight. I arrived at the hospital about two in the morning on a Monday and was on my way home before noon on Wednesday. The nurse had to find someone to show her how to discharge me to home. She had only moved people from ICU to a regular room.
The concept of 'living' in a care facility is just not one I can wrap my head around.
