It's a combat arms problem - and not new. Roughly one in five soldiers are combat arms - it can be less, usually not more. That one soldier out of five is highly likely to be white, southern, and rural. White rural southerners are more likely to be domestic terrorists or sympathizers - as that's the cultural basis or identity of domestic terrorism in the us at present.
"The Army" - broadly speaking, otoh....is the most successfully diverse institution in the us. A pioneer of the genre.
