It's not supposed to be done for anyone's pleasure, it's done to staunch the inevitable flow of blood because that was their only option in those ancient days. Naturally, this is one of those practices that almost everyone but the Orthodox-To-The-Point-Of-Absurdity Jews has LONG since abandoned.
