...what do you do to a hostile foreign force that has spent centuries murdering you, robbing from you, stealing your women as sex slaves and children as sacrifices?

Last I checked your book of mythology, it was the Israelites that were the hostile foreign force and that's precisely what they did to everybody living in their "promised land". Apparently your "god" was too thunderingly stoopid to find them somewhere uninhabited to live.
