wow, you are really angry for misinformed ideas. you really think Christians held back science? this is a very commonly misinformed idea. you're right that the Romans did burn a lot of libraries but it's something called war. in war, a lot of historical doccuments were destroyed, not just by christians. many people may think that the christians were responsible for the dark ages. the church did not discourage science of any sort at the time. they required every student to study math and science in universities at the time. and also, the universities did not answer to the church and the church had no influence on it. and yes, there was a decline in sciences. but it was not because of christianity or christianity would have made it happen a lot sooner. the reasons were:
1. the collapse of the Western Roman Empire.
2. the extended pandemics of the Plague, which broke out regularly over Europe for a period of a hundred years during the sixth century.
the only example of christians ridiculing any scientific theory was the copernicus theory (which i agree was wrong of them). and this didn't really affect science other than the fact that for a little while longer people thought the earth was the center of the universe (and i know the sun isn't either).
Oh! thus be it ever, when freemen shall stand
Between their loved home and the war's desolation!
Blest with victory and peace, may the heav'n rescued land
Praise the Power that hath made and preserved us a nation.
Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just,
And this be our motto: "In God is our trust."
And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!
