Depends on what you mean by "greater". If you want wreckage the pile up wins. If you're looking for low coefficient of friction, the ice has it hands down. If we're looking for marketability or capacity to be the Saviour of Mankind then neither is terribly useful. It's a useless metric because it doesn't mean anything.
Well, friction is more important than wreckage, so ice still wins.
