I've often wondered what his reasons for signing up were.

Its certainly not to convert people. If that was the original intention then he's failed miserably, he's alienated people from his god concept, and according to his own dogma is in as much danger of hellfire as we supposedly are.

Yet he swaggers about with his logic-proof-armour as invincibly as trolls do... hmm.
