Be that as it may America has a thicker skin that most of us give it credit for. There was a time when America wasn't the #1 at anything in the world and it looks like we may be headed in that direction again. That doesn't mean America will collapse into nothing, but it might mean we'll loose bragging rights until we get our shit together again and come out at or near the top again.
We have that ability - we just need to deal with the rampant corruption in government.

If today you can take a thing like evolution and make it a crime to teach in the public schools, tomorrow you can make it a crime to teach it in the private schools and next year you can make it a crime to teach it to the hustings or in the church.
