You've said yourself the only way to avoid hell is to accept Jesus, so no matter how good a person is, even if they spend every minute of their life helping others they are doomed to an eternity of suffering. Yet its also stated Jesus will forgive anything and anyone as long as you ask (nicely?) and believe in him. So how is what I said a misconception?

Is it a misconception because how I've worded it highlights just how ridiculous this whole sin and forgiveness thing actually is?
