No. Reddit, from what I can tell, is a forum based site. Pinterest consists of "pinning" pictures of products or images from sites onto "boards" to create a visual organizer - something like bookmarking things. You may comment on the pins, but it in no way is a forum atmosphere.
I have boards for recipes, for history research, for gardening ideas, for clothes I want to make, or to buy, art tutorials, art/photography inspiration, etc.
What makes it great is a new board can be for general things (all recipes) or you can make one that's specific (crock pot recipes). I have a board for random shit that inspired me in some way...and I have a few boards for themes of my next sets of pin up style photos I'd like to try (coffee/morning themed, mask/veiled themed). Much the same way you would organize a list of bookmarks. Except it's not a list.
I remember things in a very sensory way - smells, tastes, sights. When I remember plants, it's not immediately the name, but the "senses" of the plant, followed by the name, so people can joke all they want about it being geared towards women...for me at least, to have a visual way of organizing things helps IMMENSELY. I fucking love it.
