How to avoid shaking hands

If Muslims expect that westerners respect their Muslim customs and laws when they visit their Muslim countries why don't these same Muslims extend that same courtesy to westerners when they, those Muslims, go to LIVE in those western countries? As they do in their millions.

Of course, one has to respect the customs of the place one lives in.
I did that, and had minimal problems with the Germans I lived amongst.

You were not the only Muslim living in the west. Thousands of other Muslims do not respect the customs of the place they live in!

Obviously they don't, but I haven't really seen someone who went against it so hard, as to draw attention to themselves.

I have. Hundreds of times. Including Muslim mullahs and elders in European countries making it a point on prime time TV news to refuse to shake hands with (female) government ministers who come to them (not the other way around) to address their plight!
I'd say that is grossly rude and insulting!

I'm pretty sure not shaking hands with someone isn't illegal.

It is discrimination on the basis of sex as stipulated in most western constitutions, and therefore illegal.
It has never yet been enforced in a court of law, though (bending over backwards with 'political correctness'), but that doesn't make it any less illegal.

Are you serious? Nobody can force anyone to shake anyone else's hand. It's not illegal if you don't want to shake someone's hand, you're talking total bollocks.

Check your constitution.
Oh no, wait, you haven't got a constitution!
Which of course explains why your compatriots are not protected by it.
