I agree, I finally stopped buying console games recently, and moved to renting from Lovefilm. Best decision ever.
Whip out the 8-10 hour playtime, send it back, don't feel like I paid £5 an hour. Completed 4 games in one month, kids get a disc each too, for £15 a month plus movie catalogue to stream online or through PS3.
I only purchase games that can offer solid gametime now like Skyrim, Mass Effect.. so only RPG's now.
I gave up on PC gaming, it got too expensive to keep them up to date. I might reconsider if there was a reasonable rental service for the PC.

If you’re going to watch tele, you should watch Scooby Doo. That show was so cool because every time there’s a church with a ghoul, or a ghost in a school. They looked beneath the mask and what was inside?
The f**king janitor or the dude who runs the waterslide. Throughout history every mystery. Ever solved has turned out to be. Not Magic. ― Tim Minchin, Storm
