In my case, my country (Fiji) is a very religious state. Odds of those affected by the flooding being Christians is pretty high. So either they were dozing off in church (and thus the lashing from god) or god does not exist. Former indicates a very evil god (thus not worthy of being revered).
Nick, as I told you, it was only through God's will that the situation was not worse. Hundreds could have died, but God saved them.
Why did "God" need to intervene to prevent the situation from worsening? Couldn't it just as easily have not allowed the flooding to happen in the first place, or at the very least reduced it to something like a dribble? It would have 'saved' hundreds more lives that way.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist. This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair. Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second. That means there's a situation vacant.'
