Indeed, twice as big. Standard containers have foot print of 40'X8', giving floor area of 320 square feet.
There is actually a thriving industry in making residences out of several new or retired shipping containers. Shipping containers are designed to be stacked and structurally very strong. They make ideal earthquake, fire and tornado proof residences.
