Atheists can do and believe many things that are inconsistent, what does that prove?
That someone who is aware of that can't, in good faith, paint atheism with a broad brush. Atheism is the condition of not believing in any gods. To only know someone is an atheist no more informs you of their philosophy than only knowing someone is a theist informs you of their religion (speaking of doing and believing things that are inconsistent....).
