At least you're honest, until we do know I think all options should be considered, to close your mind to one particular option because it wouldn't agree with your current take on reality is close minded.
Well, there are some options that do seem rather ridiculous. The option that our thoughts are conjured by fairies, for instance, should not be taken as seriously as maybe a hypothesis that the brain has some kind of unique way of decoding these impulses. It's highly unlikely that thoughts are some kind of metaphysical process.
