'One of the reasons' is making the unfounded assumption that there are rational reasons for religious belief,rather than rationalisations.
My view is that religious belief is almost always due to an accident of birth. "The reason" is simply that children are inculcated with their parents' personal superstitions and world view before the age of reason.They rarely question, then or later. If they did atheists would be the majority world wide.
If a non believer dares question dogma, he is presented with a form of mental masturbation called 'apologetics' and/or its pretentious brother, 'theology'.
