Why did God create the universe?

So your deity DIDN'T create everything? This makes no sense! If he created the universe, surely he must have created everything IN that universe. How could it be otherwise? Sounds like you're trying wriggle your way out of a knotty problem because you know the implications of admitting that yes, your deity created microbiological monsters.

And if your deity DIDN'T create these critters, where did they come from? Isn't your deity the only one who can create life?

It's because we live in a "fallen world". Sin has entered this world since the time the rib-woman ate the magic fruit after speaking with the talking snake. It is sin that corrupts the perfect world of Yahweh.

It's a simple cause and effect easily demonstrated. When you were a kid and stole that cookie from the jar, breaking one commandment, some cancer cells formed somewhere else in the world. When your mom asked you if you did it and you lied, breaking another commandment, some elderly woman somewhere else got Alzheimer's. All that sinnin creates all that sufferin.
