The whole blame humanity's sin for the evils of the world is a brilliant concept. In one foul swoop it not only allows Yaweh to be loving in a world full of cruelty, but it also simultaneously labels humans as something that need 'fixing,' or in this case, salvation. It's a very clever sales tactic.
