My stance is simply that I lack religious belief. I am without belief in any god.
What religion does is tell people what to think and do. That if they be good little zombies they'll get their reward which is heaven. Which is really fucking convenient, you won't get your rewards till after you're long dead and by which time, you won't be able to return and tell others of the con, you won't exist anymore. Not to mention the threats of going to hell (another lie) to keep you in toe. It's all about control. The wise are not so easily fooled, which is no wonder they don't want you to know any better.
Religion makes a lot of money from followers, it's essentially a business and of course they're going to want to keep this business going so the money keeps coming in. The more gullible followers it has, the more money it gets. It has to be the worlds oldest and greatest scam ever made.
You have any idea how much religion makes?
"Religion is regarded by the common people as true, by the wise as false, and by the rulers as useful" - Edward Gibbon (Offen misattributed to Lucius Annaeus Seneca or Seneca the Younger) (Thanks to apophenia for the correction)
