Why did God create the universe?

Laws such as gravity are pretty useful for living things. It would be pretty hard to sustain life with things just floating in space.

But wouldn't it be better for us if we could float whenever we wanted? How many people die every year because of falls? Imagine if you could just stop yourself from falling whenever you needed to! Why doesn't this deity give us this capacity?

Hmm I can't tell you what God was "thinking" when he created the universe, but I would say in no way does that prove that he didn't create it.

It also doesn't prove that the universe wasn't created when an alien named Tim sneezed and the universe came out of his nose.

I never said I could "prove" God created it. Only that it seems likely based on the nature of the universe.

It seems "likely"? Based on "the nature of the universe"? The nature of the universe is to be incredibly chaotic and dangerous. Black holes, exploding stars, comets and asteroids flying around, meteors crashing into the planet.... This is the place a loving deity would put his most precious creation?
