Note that this is pretty much a universal online convention and has been for damn near all of the online era since lower-case capable displays became ubiquitous.
But hey, feel free to be a special little snowflake and do your own thing.
However, don't be surprised if people think you're being a dick for doing it.
On a planet of 7 billion it will never be possible for everyone to like everyone else, not even within a shared label.
But having a pet peeve, which everyone has, is just a pet peeve. My mother has a tendency sometimes to get angry but sometimes what she is really angry at isn't the first thing she starts on about and sometimes I have to dig for it, that is MY pet peeve, but I still love her.
And she too has some about me, she has ALWAYS hated my living style. She likes things in a certain place and white glove clean. I don't care about looks, just as long as I can function. I live by myself now so I can do what I want, but when I am at her apartment, I put up with her peeve and put things back where they go.
I think it is silly to call someone a dick just because you have a peeve about the way they do things, otherwise none of us could get along with our co-workers, family or friends.
Think about this the NEXT time someone you personally know and like pisses you off, but please don't tell me that has never happened in your life.
Some people are spelling nazis, some people hate loud chewing, some people hate waiting in lines, some people hate wrinkled cloths and sure, some people hate CAPS.
Ok, but just because someone does something you don't like doesn't make all of them bad, it just means that you personally don't like it. What bothers one person may not bother another.
