Revolution for elderly punks like myself
I know, it was heartbreaking to choose which ones to include; I didn't want to swamp the thread with vids, and I really wanted to include that one, but to me the best video of it was as part of their 2009 Proms performance and I couldn't find it online. If I can figure out how to rip DVDs and get around YT copyright etc, I can upload it myself.
Incidentally, the Proms show was a massive sellout (and I don't mean sellout in the way Cliff Richard did, to "the Man"). They also set what is believed to be a world record for the greatest number of ukes played in a single performance, with an audience participation of over a thousand people joining in playing "Ode To Joy" and feck knows how many more playing at home.
I also have an addendum to my original post which to my shame I forgot to include: when they came back on stage and did their joke about "not being able to get out that way", they sat down again, took up their instruments and George re-introduced them as if they were just starting their show - "Good evening, ladies and gentlemen, we are the Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain..."
As I say, top flight entertainment. Why are you still reading this? Go out and watch them! GO! GO NOW!
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist. This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair. Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second. That means there's a situation vacant.'
