Movies That Should Have Been Epic

Resident Evil. Given that the game it was based on, or at least for me the first sequel, was a truly unnerving experience, what with all the unnatural fixed camera angles and the background soundscape, added to which the game was influenced heavily by George A Romero's classics - plus the trailers for the game were actually directed by the man himself - well, let's just say the film was vastly disappointing. Less survival horror, more shoot-em-up.

On the subject of Land of the Dead, I watched it for the very first time just a couple of weeks or so ago and mainly for one reason only since I'd heard it wasn't all that good. (Warning: spoilers ahead.)

This is legendary special effects wizard Tom Savini, playing the biker ganger character known as Blades (because of his machete) in the original and classic Dawn of the Dead:



Blades ends up being killed in the zombie battle towards the end of that film.

As a result, here he is again as Blades, still carrying his machete, in Land of the Dead:



I thought that was a nice, but all-too-brief, nod to continuity.
