It's as if they've been asleep the last ten years, characterized chiefly by ineffectual democrats bending over to Republican demands like no tomorrow.
And now, at the precipice where the GOP has declared "No abortion, not even to save the mother or for rape" (a death sentence and/or a reward for the rapist!), we have self-identified liberals asking not to "fight fire with fire".
How much of the vestiges of the Great Society have to burn before they rise up and object?
I am neither a Malcom X or King when it comes to social movements. I do think both were valid tactics within context. Ultimately I think anything gays or any other minority for that matter, no matter what verbal ass kicking we do, should be non viloent.
I do not think we always have to be verbally nice to the unreasonable, just like most Christians, even on the right would say that Muslim terrorists should be delt with. But we do not live in an opressive society and we have much better tools like media and free speech to fight back.
I am willing to deal with anyone of any label on a polite mannor if they are being reasonable themselves. But I also should not have to fear them when I am blunt and honest and even blasphemous about something they may claim.
I doubt that these players, nor would I ever suggest that gay rights, needs any violence to promote. It would be the case say if you were gay living in Iran.
So yes, I also get down on PC liberals who claim the absolute only tactic is always say nice things about others and only say nice things about others. Sometimes a bigot needs to be verbally bitch slapped and what these players did was brave and there are plenty of gays, and gay sports players who now know there are people in the limlight that support them. Just like people outside sports who are streight have been openly supporting gay rights for much longer.
WE SHOULD FIGHT BACK, but just like anything you do in life, it is never black and white or all or nothing and we still have to know our audience and know who deserves it and who could be our allie.
No matter
