Hubris is the thunderous sound of the narcissitic crashing to the ground and Rush is the poster child. His brain is a living focil.
He calls himself an entertainer, but none of his listners think of him as such. He merely uses that word as an excuse to be an asshole. No one listens to Cobert thinking he is a right wing republican, even though that is his character. Rush is being deadly serious and selling posion to the credulous.
Rush wants to put put women back into allies, wants more tax breaks for the rich at the expense of the middle class and working poor and no "joke" he makes changes that he is serious about that. He is deadly serious about keeping the Bush policies in place that got us into this mess.
He IS a joke, but the problem is far too many people take him seriously.
