And I think, well, everyone knows that Christians have all these fights amongst themselves, but who knew that atheists can't get along with each other either?

You might be surprised to learn that the one thing atheists share in common (aside from harboring no belief in a skydaddy) is that we are all of the human species. (No, potatoes are not atheists. Don't even start.) That's it.

I have similar feelings about liberal Catholics who try to graft left-wing causes to Catholicism, i.e. "social justice" (voting for Democrats and supporting government food stamps and welfare programs) and "seamless garment" pro-life (opposition to the death penalty and war).

I know! Social justice is such a subversive issue .. as if every pig had a right to a place at the trough. Seriously, I'm a big fan of social justice but that is far from a standard atheist position. It always surprises me though when Christians come out as advocates of a kill-or-be-killed approach to society.

I am very disenchanted with the Catholic Church right now and part of it is because God has not seen fit to answer my prayers and the other part is that so many priests and bishops were involved with the sex scandal.

Me too but I give many Catholics lots of kudos for their charitable endeavors and strong advocacy of social justice.

But I am still a believer. I don't think I'll ever stop believing any more than I'll ever stop breathing or eating, until I die.
