Stein asked Dawkins several times to speculate on whether he thought it was possible if life on Earth came about due to ID.
To humor Stein, Dawkins speculated that, given the context of Stein's question, that we could have been seeded by advance extraterrestrials.
Dawkins does not believe for a second that life on earth actually started that way. He was only speculating on a possible form of ID.
And you know what? Dawkins speculation, however incredibly improbable it is, is immensely more probable than a god being responsible.
You'd believe if you just opened your heart" is a terrible argument for religion. It's basically saying, "If you bias yourself enough, you can convince yourself that this is true." If religion were true, people wouldn't need faith to believe it -- it would be supported by good evidence.
