Prayer not working

I visited my 86 year old mother today, she has been suffering for a long time with arthritis in her knees and has difficulty walking. She told me that the minister from her church had visited and said a prayer for her. After watching her walk slowly and painfully around I commented that it didn't seem to have done much good. I got one of THOSE looks, the kind that will curdle milk at 30 paces!

Well, prayer is there mostly to demonstrate good-will, friend.
I'm sure that she appreciated the good-will of the minister, on the other hand, your mocking comments did probably not much to help her to keep up her morale.
