I didn`t mean that in a literal way. I meant: the more influence the catholic church has in a nations politics the dumber that nation is.
Look at Spain, Ireland and Portugal - all 3 of them not as far away from Rome as France, but since the French ended catholic influence in politics when establishing the first secular constitution in Europe after their revolution, their sociaty has been far more progressive than the ones of the other 3.
