Hey, so I'm scrolling through and it looks suspiciously like the conversations we have on this forum. Do you object to being proud to be an atheist? That's your problem, not theirs. Do you object to people liking a page like that so they have a place to vent? Get off this forum. I'm really not seeing examples of people cutting each other down to look clever. I'm seeing plenty of discussion about a variety of topics that includes a few scornful remarks - rather like this forum.
You don't make something go away by ignoring it. If you're tired of atheist-minded discussion, avoid the areas. Don't frequent the facebook pages.
I'd also like to address this from your OP. We get this shit all the time in the skeptic community.
People who espouse religion generally espouse bullshit ideas about the origins of the earth, science, morality and human relationships. I'm sure we could add to that list, but I think that's broad enough. One most certainly should call out bullshit where one sees it. Religious people would like to take away my rights to my own uterus and tell me that I can avoid getting pregnant from rape because "god exists". Religious people would like to tell me that the earth is only 6000 years old. Religious people would like to say that we can't use stem cells for research to improve millions of lives. They'd like to say that divorce is immoral, that sexuality is bad, that killing "the other" is okay, that we are all divisively different and can't ever see eye to eye, that suffering is NECESSARY because it makes you a better person (and lines their pockets at the same time) and that you should believe everything you think, hear and 'feel' because faith is more important than reason.
If you think atheists who hold rationality, science, skepticism and that little place I like to call REALITY dear to their hearts should just stand aside in the name of being polite and not annoying YOU, then please -
here's a true "go fuck yourself".
