First off the data you provided doesn't specify as you say it does "includes but not limited to assault rifles", in fact it makes no mention of assault rifles. It simply says rifles. From my experience (I play lots of war games, I'm pretty convinced I know my guns) a 'rifle' doesn't automatically constitute an assault rifle. They're two different things. But hey, maybe that's wishful thinking on my part, I'll give it to you anyway.
Even with that data, I like how you conveniently ignored and left out the stats about murders by handguns...

Work me out the percentage difference between that and knives for me would ya?
